Three decades at the intersection of energy and Texas history

Newton began his career in corporate finance at Goldman Sachs in New York before returning to Texas, where he spent a decade raising capital and investing in privately held energy businesses. He founded Petro Capital Group in 2002 and has served as chairman or director of numerous energy companies.

His second career grew out of a lifelong fascination with the state itself. Years of archival research became Richard Coke: Texan, honored by the Texas Senate and presented at the annual meeting of the Texas State Historical Association.
